Abstract
Stunting and developmental delays among children aged 1–3 years remain significant public health issues that may have long-term impacts on the quality of human resources. One of the contributing factors is the limited knowledge of mothers regarding balanced nutrition, early growth and development screening, and child developmental stimulation. This community service program aimed to improve mothers’ knowledge and skills in preventing stunting, as well as in the early detection and stimulation of child development, through a Mother and Toddler Class utilizing interactive educational media in Pulokerto Village. The program employed a participatory learning approach using educational videos, posters, infographics, group discussions, practical simulations, and pre-test and post-test evaluations. The activity was conducted on November 12, 2025, involving 30 mothers of toddlers as participants. The evaluation results demonstrated an improvement in participants’ knowledge following the educational intervention. Prior to the program, most participants were categorized as having poor or moderate knowledge, whereas after the intervention, the majority achieved a good level of knowledge, and no participants remained in the poor knowledge category. Participants also showed high enthusiasm and active engagement throughout the learning process. The interactive Mother and Toddler Class proved to be an effective promotive and preventive strategy to support stunting prevention and optimize child growth and development through community-based maternal empowerment.
